Frequently asked questions

Everything a school office usually asks

Pupil data, devices, plans and invoices. If your question is not here, send it over and we will answer it.

Pupil accounts and data

Do pupils need email addresses?
No. Teachers create pupil logins with a username and a simple password, so no pupil email address is ever collected.
Who can see a pupil's work?
The pupil and the staff who have access to that class. Nothing is public until a member of staff reviews the site and approves it.
Who is the data controller?
Your school is the data controller for pupil information. PagePal, operated by Greyphox Digital Ltd, acts as the processor. Full detail is in our privacy policy.
What happens to pupil data at the end of the year?
Staff can archive pupils they no longer need. An archived pupil's login is disabled straight away, and after 30 days their login, saved password, website and uploaded pictures are deleted permanently. Restoring them before that date cancels the deletion.
Are published pupil sites found by Google?
No. Every published pupil website carries a noindex instruction so search engines skip it.

Using PagePal in class

Do pupils need to know any code?
No. Pupils add sections to a page, then click straight onto the words and picture spaces to edit them. Everything saves as they work.
Can I try it before creating an account?
Yes. Use the pupil demo to build a site in your browser with no sign up. Nothing is saved to our servers and nothing is published.
What devices does it work on?
Any modern browser on a computer, Chromebook, iPad or tablet. Pupils can also preview their site at computer, tablet and phone sizes.
Can pupils download their website?
Yes. A finished site can be saved as a PDF or downloaded as a standalone website file for display or assessment evidence.
How do staff accounts work?
Signing up creates a school account and makes you the admin. You invite staff by email and choose which classes each person can see, and whether they can create classes.

Plans, payment and invoices

Is there a free option?
Yes. Every school starts free with up to 10 pupil accounts, with no card details needed.
What do the paid plans cost?
Plans are £50, £100, £250 and £500 a year for up to 50, 100, 250 and 500 pupil accounts.
Can we pay by invoice or purchase order?
Yes. Contact us with the plan you need and your school billing address, and we will raise an invoice and activate your pupil allowance once the purchase order is in place.
What happens if we reach our pupil limit?
Existing pupils keep working as normal. Adding new pupil accounts is blocked until you move to a larger plan or archive pupils you no longer need.
